My family and I were looking for a sushi place to eat for dinner, and we went to Yoshino first. We usually go there but tonight, it was packed so we decided to try something new. Let me tell you this, I was shocked looking at the menu prices. $18 for a dragon roll and $14 for a caterpillar roll. So expensive for such average quality food. The bill came out to be $100 for a family of four. We could have eaten at an AYCE sushi place for that price and get triple the amount of sushi. Also, I noticed there was sand in the lobster and scallop rolls. It was pretty unusual to find sand in it and really discomforting when eating. The mussel plate we ordered had a lot of empty shells, and we had to find the mussels in the salty sauce. Overall, I think this restaurant could do much better if the prices weren't so darn high.

One of the awkward moments when you are actually craving for Taiwanese Japanese food... This place used to be a Japanese restaurant. Now they are serving both Japanese & Taiwanese dishes! Must have done this to survive. The server served me green tea as soon as I was seated. I was craving for a Dragon Roll, but found out that a Dragon Roll is actually $16, and 1/2 is $9.95. I looked at the sushi prices and decided to switch to Dinner Combo instead. I ordered the Dinner Combo A with Mixed Tempura for $9.95. (Can only choose one main dish. Thought it normally comes with 2 choices!) It came with Soup, Salad, Rice, 2 pieces of California Roll, and 2 slices of orange. Funny thing is that the server is Mexican, but he speaks Mandarin. The Tempura looked a bit sad but tastes ok. I like its assortment though. The Tempura has Shrimp, Eggplant, Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, and Carrot. The salad dressing was good, but a bit too much. The server gave me the California Roll without soy sauce. I had to ask for it. They tried to play some nice classy music in the background, but it just didn't match. It's a loud family restaurant. Pros: * FREE large soda drink w/ Yelp check-in * Free wi-fi * Has its own parking lot * free hot green tea * Food comes out fast * TV screens playing basketball * Booth seatings Cons: * Not authentic sushi * Sushi prices are too high

I came here a few nights ago and I'll just be blunt and say that I would not recommend this place to anyone. They had a lot of selections and I felt a bit overwhelmed on the two different types of cuisine at first. However, personally, I think they should just cut off the Japanese food selections because their sushi are not fresh! Here's what we ordered: Sushi: 1) Spicy tuna roll: It had a bad taste to it and the color was a bright red. Has anyone every seen spicy tuna to be firetruck red? Definitely not me. 2) Lobster roll: first question I asked my bf: Is it me or does the cheese have a weird smell and taste? Let's just say, I did not want to take another bite. Hot Pot: It says "small hot pot" and you can choose beef, pork, or seafood. However, I speak Chinese but I cannot read it and when it came, it was stinky tofu hot pot. I'm not a fan of stinky tofu but if you are, you might like it. I've had better hot pot at One on One, Jazz Cat, and Boiling Point. Overall: Food: I would suggest sticking with one type of cuisine or improve the sushi side. Service: I give them 4 stars. Owner is pretty nice and 2/4 waiters/waitresses give good service.

They must have dropped some of their prices because it wasn't too bad when I came here for lunch. Let me start with the Pros: - $7.95 for a pitcher of kirin (or $1.95 for a pint). I think that wins a prize for cheapest in town! - Free green tea, the legit matcha kind and not the crappy bags. - Stinky tofu was decent and really stinky (if you like that kind of thing) - Fried noodles weren't bad - Pork with bean curd was decent - Check-in and get a free soda. - Lunch menu prices seemed decent. Cons: - For comparison, the Taiwanese food here wasn't as tasty as Uncle Yu's Indian restaurant. - I didn't try the sashimi fearing that I would bomb the toilets. Ever hear of a japanese/taiwanese restaurant? No, because its harder to keep items fresh since you have to cater to a wider menu...which means that things are most likely frozen. No Thanks. Other than that, it wasn't a bad place to eat. All I'm saying is if you're looking for cheap Kirin and a couple of snacks, this isn't a bad option.

Came here for lunch and ordered the baked lobster roll which was simply delicious! Also had a grilled platter which was advertised as Taiwanese style and nothing short of it. This place definitely had a unique fusion of Taiwanese and Japanese food, which at first I thought was kind of odd but after taking a look at the wide variety of food offered I couldn't even decide! Decently priced, great variety, and tasty! Definitely coming back again :) oh and thanks for the free green tea ice cream!

I really like this place! Their miso yaki is to die for!! I especially loved their sashimi since their portions are good and super fresh. Everytime I come here I order the dragon roll. This place makes the best because the eel is super meaty and omg, I just can't get enough. Their grilled stuff is really good too! My mom really enjoys their grilled chicken butts haha. I really, really like their grilled lamb chop. I think the last time I was here, I got one of the lunch combination sets. There was grilled BBQ with rice, salad, soup, and a side of California rolls. It was so worth it! Coming back here to fulfill my future sushi craving :)

It has been a few years since I came to the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the food and their services. The restaurant offers both Taiwanese and Japanese food in the restaurant. My husband and I tried both menus and enjoyed the freshness and authenticity of their food. The portion of the food was also very reasonable. Aside from the food, the service was great! Our waiter was patient and explained the different menu options to us. I thought the space in the restaurant was creative and considerate of customers' needs. One can choose to be seated in the open area, or in the private partitioned areas. Their private rooms are equipped with karaoke and TV. It would be a perfect venue for an intimate karaoke competition with friends.

I had a great experience here the other night :) kind of a jazzy-feel to this restaurant. Maybe it was the lighting or music, but...I liked it. Different for a Japanese restaurant! Loved the sashimi...got yellowtail and salmon and it was melt-in-your-mouth fresh =) mm...want more yellowtail! They have this new (apparently) item on the menu that's half seared sushi where the fish on top is, well, half-seared. Seared on top, and raw on the bottom on a little bed of nori. We got the hamachi (yellowtail), salmon, and beef...yes, even the beef was half-seared. My favorites were the hamachi and beef! The way it's prepared really has an interesting texture to it and the hamachi one has a bit of some kind of minty pesto on top too that really gives the over sushi a kick. Also ordered red snapper sashimi...comes on a plate with about 15 pieces or so, and it's soaked in a kind of ponzu sauce that makes it delicious :) The dragon roll was good...just like other places, but...I thought it was cute that they made it look like a dragon with a snout, horns, and an actual tail haha :) And last but not least, yummyyyy japanese fried rice! Be warned that it's a little bit oily, but then again I think it's like that at Daikokuya too. I think there's more seafood and items in this fried rice than at Daikokuya though, so I loved it! :] A bit pricier of a place, but good food and ambiance! (Plus, I'm always wary of cheap sushi...it's not supposed to be cheap! Or if it is...it's probably not as good or fresh :P) They serve Taiwanese food too, so I'd be curious to try out some of those items on the menu :)

Where else can a Filipino guy get greeted in Chinese walking into a Japanese restaurant with Christmas icicle lights? In this part of town, most people do speak Chinese, but not me and I looked as perplexed as the hostess. A few "oh, I get it" seconds later, the now smiling hostess says, "Hello" and brings me water and menu, along with a small salad. This is a huge menu - with as many items as there are seats. The place is kind of funky and cool, with wavy decor and bright lights, and TV screens in the south booths. There was a large sushi bar with one side able to see all the different types of fish available. They had lots of lunch specials, and I chose my usual two combination plate, beef teriyaki and shrimp tempura, for $10, It included four California rolls. really good miso soup with lots of seaweed and tofu, rice, and small salad. You could tell this time, the tempura was just cooked to order. Oftentimes restaurants make these in batches and are limp or dry when you get them, but not these. There were two large shrimp, one shrimpy shrimp, and mixed ddep fried veggies including onion, zucchini, summer squash, Japanese eggplant, and carrot. The beef teriyaki was actually galbi type ribs which were sweet, tangy,. and tender. All of it was lip smacking good. I enjoyed watching the news over lunch, a nice default if you had a boring lunch companion. Service was good, but thankfully left me along as lunch is a time to check emails on my Blackberry. I didn't try the sushi, though the California rolls were good. When I went to wash my hands, I got to see inside the kitchen as the chefs were cutting fish. It didn't smell fishy from where I was, a good sign. I had a wonderful time at quirky Wonderful. The name this time was rightfully descriptive.

The opposite of wonderful.. I have lived in SGV for my whole life and I pass by this restaurant soo many times. It has always looked like a pretty interesting place so me and my friends finally tried it. We were seated quite quick because the place was pretty empty but that was the only good thing that happened during our visit. To start this bad review off, it took about 30-45 minutes for them to finally take our orders. Most of us ordered sushi and it took an additional hour (at least) for all of us to receive our food 1 by 1, even though most of our orders were extremely simple to make (i.e. california roll, kabobs). For example of how long it took, by the time the next person received the food, one person would have finished eating their plate. After we all finished our plates, we just talked and waited for somebody to bring or at least ask if we would like our check. We waited and waited and waited, but after about an hour we got fed up and just went up because nobody was even looking or walked by our booth so we could not signal anybody to come over. Of course we barely tipped and they were lucky to get that. This is honestly one of the top 3 worst service I have had in a restaurant. To make things short: You pay for pricey food that tastes mediocre (if that), and you get neglected in terms of customer service. P.S. Me and my friends drink water like freaking elephants in the Sahara desert, so by the first few minutes we all had empty cups. During our 3 hour in this horrid restaurant, not once did a waiter/waitress refill our cups.

It's been more than 10 years since I visited this location. I believe it used to be a Japanese restaurant name Ichiban. I think they still have the Ichiban written in Chinese up front, but their real name is "Wonderful Restaurant". I walked in with some coworkers during lunch time, and already knew it's going to be lunch disaster when we walk in during peak lunch hours and they only have 1 table. They have lunch specials starting at $6.95 (not bad...), but if you look closely. It's $6.95 for 4 pieces of sushi? I decided to go with the Chinese menu, because I felt that there should be more food for the same price. I ordered the Spicy Stinky Tofu. Waited over 30 minutes and my food is still not on the table. After some complaining, my stinky tofu came served in a nice pot of hot sauce, but where's my rice? Oh... Rice is an extra $0.50. Probably the most frustrating lunch experience I have had for a long time. "Wonderful Restaurant" is not so wonderful afterall.

wow it has been 4 years since i have came back to eat here. I ordered the Spicy hot Pot while my friend ordered a pork with bean dish(Taiwanese). All i could say was it is a perfect combination of flavors where Japanese food is added with a little Taiwanese flavor. I come from a family that is japanese and taiwanese so the taste only brings back wonderful childhood memories of my grandmas cooking. TO TOP IT ALL OFF I RECEIVED A FREE GREEN TEA ice cream instead of soda for checking in. one bad thing was that the parking is confusing with all the stores around. But I'll be back.

Wonderful Restaurant? No. Not wonderful at all! I have been coming here almost every year ever since I was a little girl, and I even have a VIP gold star club membership card. However I never really noticed how horrible the service, food, and everything was until my recent experience here. So my dad and I share the same birthday and we 2 coupons that say "Buy $60 worth of food and get $30 off!" This sounded like a GREAT deal! so instead of going to a 4-5 star buffet to go here. for my dad and my birthday... Anywho, so when we went into the restaurant and was greeted by an man with glasses. He looked like someone that would only be nice to you if you have money... Like those propaganda pictures of a stereotypical money grubbing tightwad... MOVING ON. We were a party of 7 and they sat us all the way in the corner by the wall in our own booth, which is okay, but it was really cramped. My little brother had to crawl under the tables just to get around. The food is EXPENSIVE- but the worse part was the service. The waitress that served us was EXTREMELY rude to us. We asked if we could use our coupon and order $120 worth of food and get $60 off [since the coupon says $60 purchase gets you $30 off), and she said "No" in a really rude way. She tried to convince us to use it tomorrow =.= which is really stupid because if we ONLY order $60- $30 worth of food, that is all she is getting, as appose to us getting $120-$60 worth of food. You do the math. So when we ordered our food- might i mention to NEVER get that BOAT. $75??!?!? are you kidding me?!?! and all you get is what- 10 sushi and a bunch of salad and decorations. HECK NO! The food tasted extremely.. and I MEAN EXTREMELY tasteless. Especially for the price we paid. $14 for what- a slab of meat the size of a baby's palm and 2 slices of oranges and a bowl of rice. WOW!!! After we were done with our food, we had to wait 15 mins or so until a waiter/waitress noticed us to give us our check. [you would think they would want their money... especially that one guy. YOU HAVE TO GO SEE HIM! Hahaha] I had to go up to 2 different cash registers in order to pay the check. There was one or 2 waiters that were really nice. It took the cashier a good 5-10 mins to finally charge my credit card and have me sign it. I'm sure it was because he was new. The same waitress that served us kept yelling at him.. or scolding him in front of me. How unprofessional. moral of the story is. DON'T COME HERE.

We had two "-$30 after $60 spent" birthday coupons. My girlfriend and her dad shared a birthday so it was planned that we just get two tables, one with her and the other for her dad. They didn't allow it, telling us that we can't get two tables, instead proposing that we buy the first meal, then exit the restaurant, immediately walk back in, and get another meal. Why can't we just split the tables? It's two people with the same birthday, they should each be able to use a coupon for themselves. Well stating the above, the service was pretty rude. The combo plates ranged around the $10 zone, and they feature extremely little food. If i paid $5 for it, i would still think it was too small of a value. We ordered bbq short ribs and one of the ribs was basically all bone. Food tasted alright, nothing really special. Just overpriced is all. We had a private room with a television set so that was pretty nice. It was roomy and spacious, making the ambiance the only saving grace from this place being a 1 star. Would not come back.

I have been coming to wonderful since they opened, and frequented so much that I became a gold VIP member. I haven't been here for about a year, and sad to say it has changed tremendously. Today I dined with my family, 4 adults and 4 kids. The minute we got there the main lady made a face when she saw the kids. We askef for a private table and we sat in the back. Before though the lady began telling the kids to not touch the cards (they were on their best behavior). We sat down and the took our drinks and all of a sudden coming back to the table was a mission for them. The drinks were buy 2 get 1, so that was good. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt there was a huge party in the back going on, which made it hard to have a convo. But not only did they space out the food which was frustrating to each adult and hungry kid, but they erred on our order twice. Aside from the customer service, the food quality has deteriorated. I ordered fried udon with beaf, and it was bland and fishy. The rolls were small and sashimi small portion. I loved when they fattened up the rolls. Add insult to injury they add a 'service charge' to groups of 6 or more to which I never noticed, but even if the children ate from our plates and they knew this. When brought the bill, all of a sudden boss lady was at our table and didn't leave. We took our time... Based on todays experience, i will not be going back, despite being 'vip'. I felt a little discriminated because of the kids. Goodbye wonderful

Went there Tuesday night for dinner, even tho the review is not that great, I thought I should be fair and give it a try. Overall the food is not bad, but a little pricy to be honest for it's value (taste & portion). They give you little starter dishes so it's okay to pass. The worse would be the service, so dont expect too much. Four stars not including service.

"WONDERFUL" is in the palate of the beholder! I come here for the sushi! OK....I have been coming here for at least two years primarily for sushi....and never been disappointed. I always sit at the sushi bar on Tuesdays through Sunday because those are the days that James (Sushi-Guru), is working. This man puts his heart into making some exquisite cuts of sushi and sashimi. He is very inventive and occasionally makes me some unique sushi plates for me just to try out! The portions are fresh, the cuts are generous, and his skill in presentation is terrific! The costs are a bit on the high-side, but then, I never worry about what I eat here either. I have never been ill afterwords, and the service is always good (at the sushi bar!). Now, I have read in other reviews some disturbing things like not fresh oysters and small sushi rolls... The Shabu-Shabu is over priced ----etc.,,, But I have not experienced this myself personally. Maybe, if I sat away from the sushi bar, it might make a difference because maybe someone else makes the sushi rolls and other items that I have not tasted....? But for me, this place rocks at the sushi bar itself...Pricey but good. If the Sushi Chef (James) ever left this place...so would I. He's a tough act to follow.

Got a flyer/coupon in the mail and since we haven't been there for like 8 years, we decided to give it a try. Using the coupon thing is a bit of hassle. Got fine print attached to every single one of them. The Taiwanese food is like average and not very Taiwanese. The sushi wasn't bad, but you can definitely find better sushi restaurant around here. Combined with their price, we wouldn't come back.

Ate this for lunch at work. We took to-go for about 25 people at the office. I went to pick it up with a coworker and I thought this place was small when I walked in from the back. Cute booths though. They made it look like a mini VIP booths. We ordered their lunch specials. All comes with a free miso soup. $6.95 for a lunch special. Comes in a bento box. In the bento box, there is rice, about 4 pieces of california rolls, pickles and a choice of meat you want. Food was okay, wasn't that great...eaten better.

Service: Friendly and attentive. I love the VARIETY here!! They have Japanese food, Taiwanese food and hot pot! Japanese food: My favorites here are: Hamachi and Salmon - fresh and delicious! The Sea Cucumber is also very good (must try)! They have sashimi combinations at reasonable prices during lunch and dinner. Taiwanese food: The steamed stinky tofu, stir-fried rice noodle, spicy tofu hotpot, sauteed veggie dishes, and you pretty much can't go wrong with the dishes featured on the flat screen tv at the restaurant. Dessert: If you have room for dessert, the green tea ice cream is good. Drinks: I like the watermelon and hot green tea. Parking lot available in the back.

I've been here a bunch of times, usually in small groups. In small groups, it's... passable. I can think of a ton of better places to go for a small group. In a large group, though, things are a little different. We ended up with four or five or six things off the menu I'd never order otherwise, including monkfish liver (good, but very liver-iy/fishy) and chicken hearts (only ok, better at other places), plus some random beef thing with hot peppers, a stinky tofu soup (quite decent), and a few other things my memory loses in a fuzzy haze. I'll have to look at the pictures to see what the rest was. Add in the usual sashimi, sushi, and what not, and it's not bad at all for large groups. 'bout the only issue was that service got a little slow as the night went on. We had two huge teapots for a group of 10 that kept going empty far too often...

The BF and I came here on a Friday night for dinner. Was seated promptly and given walnuts and pickled veggies. Ignored for another 10 mins. Asked if we were ready to have our order taken- Yes. Ignored for another 10 mins. So we got up and left. HORRIBLE. NEVER AGAIN.

Odd combination of foods. They are known for their "Seared Sushi" but its not really sushi anymore, its like half cooked fish/meat on top of rice. Their shabu shabu is decent. Sushi is okay. Service is good. It has this odd atmosphere to it with fluorescent lights, booths, and tvs playing. Overall not bad.

they serve beer. What? U need me to say more? Okay... They serve lotsa beer. oh, and they also have food...sushi, Taiwanese stuff, etc. The food is good, even greater when u drink lots. Don't get the chicken wings. Do get the Japanese fried rice. But let me reiterate.....They serve beer. Not too many places to choose in San Gabriel that serves beer, food, and can accommodate large (and LOUD) crowds. No this place doesn't have cute girls like Indian Beer House....but one can only go to the same place so many times...

My family used to come here a lot but we stopped because they opened one closer to our home in Rowland Heights. But yesterday, we decided to revisit one of our favorite Japanese spots! Unfortunately, the quality of the food along with the service has gone downhill. First of all, there was a flyer on the menu stating that a $30 gift card would be given within your birthday month. My dad's birthday was 10 days before so we decided to tell our waitress. Unfortunately, we didnt read the fine print which said the offer wasn't available for holidays (New Years Eve) - - which definitely was not the problem. The problem was her attitude, she pointed to the flyer and said "when it says no, it means no". The bitch needed to be slapped. We order a whole lot of food. The quality of the crunch roll was horrible. The agedashi tofu was not right (not enough batter on the outside). We ordered a fried rice roll. We got all our food except for the rice roll so when we were close to being full, I assumed that I was unclear in ordering and accidentally canceled that order in addition to another item at the beginning. Right before we were about to ask for the check, the waitress walks quickly to our table and drops off the rice roll. Because she knew it was too late to bring a dish, she quickly walked away knowing we didn't want it. Completely inconsiderate, rude, and needing to get bitch slapped. This restaurant has officially been blacklisted.

I am so offended with the service I received. Our family just finished what we'd hoped would be a nice Friday dinner here. Instead we has the worst service, disgusting food, and were forced to pay a 20 percent service charge because we were 8 people. I guess that is why they think they don't have to provide good service. We have younger children and they made it VERY clear that they prefer adults only. $140 bucks later and I have a stomach ache and am upset. Will never return!

It's disgusting to see the owner lady holding her dog and walking around the restaurant... And into the kitchen and prep area. no one seem to care, the dog was all barking and everything! AUTOMATIC ONE STAR! i love dogs, have 2 of my own... but they're absolutely not allowed in restaurants! THE DANDER !! extra flavor for your soup! spicy hot pot was over priced.... the ingredients were over priced. got to Boiling Point if you want good spicy hot pot.

It's to die for...........it's rated among one of my TOP picks in the area for hot pot now.....loved it soo much, i'm going there again tonight for it, lol!!!!

They should rename this place to DREADFUL because it just doesn't cut the wasabi mustard. What kind of name is Wonderful? For a Japanese restaurant?! C'mon... When I was here the past summer, the parking lot reeked of stinky tofu. The interior is hopelessly passe -- circa late 80s, early 90s -- but without a trace of irony. The service was incompetent. The food is inauthentic. Their edamame beans were way salty, and I even tasted MSG in them. And, the worst part: they couldn't even get the teriyaki chicken right, so you won't have to ask me about their sushi. It amazes me how this place can stay in business with their low quality standards. Even the infamous Tokyo Lobby will have better food, and you'll end up spending less money there, too.

I like sushi and I'm pretty adventurous to try a Restaurant any where. We stumbled upon Wonderful while working in Alhambra. The Restaurant is clean and spacious. I liked the little TV. in each booth. One problem was that only half of the menu is in English. the half in Japanese or Chinese (not sure which) looked good but I was not to sure. So we ordered the lunch specials, Lamb Chop and Sashimi with Salmon. The salads were good, and good California rolls. as for the sashimi everything was good except that the Tuna was frozen. The grilled salmon was a little dry. But the mango pudding was great. Maybe if I'm in the neighborhood I'd go back.

i wanted shabu shabu but they wanted me to order the $25 beef plus add on another $15 for vegies...i was like "HuH? it doesn't come w/ vegies?" For shabu shabu head over to shabu shabu house in J-Town. anyway, ordered a combo and gf had the sashimi platter. combo wasn't that great, the chicken was dry, the galbi was good but very sweet and we didn't even touch the california rolls. The sashimi decent but some pieces were stringy.

Wonderful Restaurant is a Chinese owned Japanese restaurant. My sister has a VIP card. It's free. You just have to ask for it. With the VIP card, you get a small discount. I can't remember how much is the discount since we really don't go there too often. It was my sister's birthday month. Then sent a $30 off when spending $70 birthday coupon to her. So we decided to go there to eat $70 worth of food. After ordering, our waiter brought us complimentary green tea, miso soup and salad. Nothing memorable here. I have to have my favorite sea urchin sushi at any Japanese restaurant. The sea urchin (uni) was great. It was fresh and sweet. But why do they have to put that dab of wasabi on top? The wasabi was too strong, and it was overpowering the taste of sea urchin. I like to eat my uni sushi with just a tiny bit of soy sauce to really taste the uni. Of course we have to order another favorite dish, monkfish liver (ankimo). Each order comes with two pieces of liver. Love the ponzu sauce with green onion. My sister loves Japanese deep fried pork (katsu). When we saw this combo plate, we were like "huh?" Is this katsu? No! This is Taiwanese style fried pork chop! It tasted just like the pork chop you get in Taiwanese pork chop rice. We felt so cheated. The combo also came with two pieces of California roll, two pieces of salmon sushi, and cold soba noodle. Portion was small. We finished it in 5 bites. Didn't like this dinner combo at all. It's not worth the price. I like the Grilled Lamb Steak here. Almost order it every time. The lamb was grilled to a perfect medium, very tender. This is quite good with a glass of cold beer. This was the biggest Dynamite I've ever had. But it's also the stingiest Dymanite I've ever had. Usually dynamite is full of seafood such as scallop and clam. But the dynamite here only had fish cake, onion, carrot and mushroom. What kind of "seafood" dynamite is that? Such a ripoff. Wonderful Assorted Sushi Dinner Combo had 6 pieces of spicy tuna roll, shrimp, egg, tuna, albacore, salmon, halibut, fish roe, mackerel, octopus, squid, and surf clam sushi. This combo was well worth its price. The sushi was not the best. But portion is big, and can make you really full. Beef Sukiyaki was another "what is this" kind of dish. Even though it's named sukiyaki, it tasted nothing like sukiyaki. It was just a pot of beef soup. It did have all the necessity of sukiyaki: beef, cabbage, tofu and glass noodle. So why can't they make the correct sukiyaki soup base? I just don't understand. Pan Fried Udon with Seafood wasn't bad, just very oily. I was already too full so only had a few bites. They totally forgot our Grilled Rice Ball. This is the worst dish ever. It was just a tasteless rice ball grilled till it was burnt. What a waste of money. We thought there would be at least something in the middle. Nope. Nada. Really regret ordering this one. That was a lot of food for $70. Before the $30 coupon, it was about $75. After the discount plus tax, we paid $50. It was cheap for the amount of food we got, but the food really wasn't that good. If you are looking for a Japanese restaurant, it is better to go to a real Japanese restaurant for real Japanese food.

I've been to Wonderful quite a few times due to the fact that it's close by. The food maybe a tad on the pricier side, but it has never disappointed me. Their ice water comes in these nifty metal cups that are probably the bottom of drink mixers. The miso soup that comes with most of the items is an improvement to many other places' saltwater concoctions. The green onions they add in are a nice touch. The first time I was here I ordered the lunch combo with the Assorted Tempura and Chicken Teriyaki. The chicken was exceptionally good. Nice, thick cuts that were moist and tender. The shrimp tempura was lacking though. Small shrimp covered with a lot of batter. The vegetable pieces were fairly good though. Their salad, or actually their dressing, is interesting. It's tangy but refreshing on the palate. Mango pudding isn't anything spectacular though. The Katsudon is alright. It's decently priced at $7 for a pork cutlet with a sort of egg gravy/sauce over rice. The Chicken Teriyaki on rice, which is the same price, features a good amount of delicious chicken with the same egg sauce/gravy over rice. They're both cheap yet decent bowls of food. Onto the sushi. Their cut rolls aren't anything special. A bit overpriced for the size. Spicy yellowtail rolls are anything but spicy. But they're not bad as you can actually see and taste the chunks of fish. The salmon skin rolls are exceptionally good though. Crispy salmon skin paired with the crunch of the vegetables, Wonderful's salmon skin roll might be the best I've had. But for almost $6, the pieces are way too small. The mixed sushi is average. There isn't any wasabi put between the fish and rice like most other places however. I'm not a fan of the sushi. Their sashimi though is surprisingly good. Fairly decent sized cuts of fairly fresh fish. Not the best I've ever had, but decent for the price. Their salmon and albacore are a must try though. Service is average. Most of my visits were during slow times which meant plenty of refills of tea/water. The owner threw in a free miso soup for a friend once, and one of the older waitresses gives my friends and I coupons for 5 dollars off of the next 20 dollars, everytime we go, which almost make up for the price of food. There was one time where one of the waitresses gave us the check before everyone finished eating though. But it was closing time and we were almost finished though. Their parking is behind the restaurant which you can only get to by squeezing through the one car space between Wonderful and the next restaurant. There usually is parking though.

My friend treated me here, and I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. I am quite surprised that they got some bad reviews on yelp. For those who complained about their prices, I would say, I could tell it's a much higher class restaurant when stepping into it. Besides, it has a two-dollar-sign ($$) level on yelp. Those people could have noticed that before entering the restaurant. Well, now it's my opinion. They have really good quality for the food. My friends and I had a combination of sashimi, which is fresh and very delicious. We had a bottle of sake (alcohol) as well. It was hot but very smooth taste. By the way, if you don't like sake, the hot green-tea (actually it is Macha) is just perfect. Originally, good green-tea/macha is made of powder and hot water. This place chooses good tea to serve its customers. I appreciate their delicacy. We also order some Taiwanese dishes, including duck, spicy stinky tofu and a plate of vegetable. Spicy stinky tofu is well-known to many people in Taiwanese cuisine. Try some when you are here. Don't just order rolls that are so Californian style. Expose yourself to some exotic food! You won't regret. Waitress and waiters can speak English, Mandarin, Japanese and Cantonese. So if you have friends who can help you on the language thing, invite them to go with you :)

This place consider worse Japanese in SGV, manager definitely has no sense how to run the kitchen and food service. On Sat dinner time 7pm literally only have 3-4 tables and one of table ordered 6 dishes only but waited nearly 2.5 hrs to have all dishes completed. However, manager didn't even seem to know push kitchen having food rush out within timely manner. Sadly, under Such management run this place will result with my prediction. This place will out of business within one year. Unless hire new management team with brand new menu. All menu items are not competitive

What Yelp coupon??!! When I checked in, the waitress said that there was no ice cream!!! She didn't (even) offer any free soda!! The waitress would have said that in the beginning!!! On top of that, there were no Sukiyaki or Jot Pot!!! You would think that this would be noted on the menu!!! And they were stingy with the rice, as well!!! I would, much rather, go to Z Sushi in Alhambra, which is (also) operated by Taiwanese but way better caliber in their taste of their foods!!! And the restaurant is so dirty that I spotted cob webs and what-not on their ceiling!!! I felt bugs biting at my legs all night!!! And their Teriyaki Chicken was over-cooked! I ordered the B Combination and got 2 tiny California rolls!!! Bottom line? Not worth my time!!! I am sorry to say that they may not survive the business would they this up ... They needed to be less money-minded!

It is sad to report it is closed for good due to demographic changes. It was reported by one of the wait staff that Chinese mainlanders do eat Japanese and don't know Taiwanese .

Don't trust the 4- and 5- star reviews. This restaurant puts out coupons but in order to use them you have to put 4- or 5- star reviews on Yelp. A restaurant that is confident it's serving decent food and providing good service doesn't have to bribe its customers for positive reviews (not to mention it's against Yelp guidelines for business owners).

It's sad to feel this restaurant was declining. I visited this restaurant several times from about 5 years ago. The owner loves fancy food and is not shy to bring them onto the menu. Sometimes things may go wrong so the food taste so-so, but most of the time I found surprisingly positive outcomes. What makes me sad is that after years the atmosphere of the store is deteriorating. One can observe greases on the wall or dividers. Small spider webs on the ceilings. All are signs of falling apart.

The food is very good and fresh but very expensive. There is a variety of Taiwanese dishes and also Sushi and sashimi. But some of the dishes are super spicy so if you could handle it, give it a try. The setting is very quiet and the waitresses are nice. It's worth giving this place a try before it's gone

Sashimi deluxe-above average. Pretty fresh fish. First time having uni is at this restaurant and I fall in love with uni. Fish soup of the day-delicious. Mild and warms your heart. Fresh fish head and soft cabbage in tasty fish broth. The best fish soup I've ever had. Dragon roll-average. The dragon head is cute. Crispy shrimp roll-average. Crispy German pork-average. The entire dish is pretty fattening. Crispy yet too salty.

First, the food. Mediocre at best. I ordered a baked scallop roll. It actually came out not that warm and was mostly topped off with mayonnaise. Yes, I'm aware that that's what's on these types of rolls but there was mostly mayonnaise and not much of the scallops. This place is way overpriced given the quality. Second, the service. I came here on Christmas Day for lunch with my parents. They got their food at around the same time. I got my food (the one roll that i ordered) at least 25 minutes after they got their food and 45 minutes after we we had placed our order. My dad had already finished eating, and my mom was nearly done. I waited some time before flagging down our server. I gave them some time because I thought the baked scallop roll might just take longer. After a while though it was clear that they had forgotten my order. When I flagged our server she seemed completely oblivious (it was clear that she had no idea something was missing at the table - she had that what do you need look). She quickly recovered though and said that it was very busy and they only had one chef because it was Christmas. I hate being lied to. If you made a mistake or if someone else made a mistake, just say it. There's no need to lie and say that it's busy and that's why my one roll was going to come out half an hour after my parents got their food. Oh, and busy? There were at most 4 other tables filled. The place was practically empty except for us. In the end they gave us coupons but that's little comfort to someone who doesn't plan on coming back.

Decided to try this place out with my mom and I'm glad we did. Came twice, both during lunch. We ordered the stinky tofu both times and it is ON POINT. We also ordered a few other plates in which all the portions were very generous. The prices are very reasonable as well except for their sushi prices. They're more on the pricey side. I would recommend elsewhere for sushi. The staff was very nice and overall we had a good experience. Will definitely come back again!

I enjoy their Taiwanese menu in general. Their stinky tofu pot is authentic. And their spicy cold chicken is pretty tasty, it tastes like the night market "salty water" chicken with a touch of chili. Their Japanese dragon roll is good too, baked eel coated with light Asian BBQ sauce..... Yum! * park in the rear * nice relaxing place * good with group

I've had take outs from this place many times and never had a problem, I actually thought their food was quite delicious! However, it's when I decided to dine in...we ordered 5 different entrees and 4 of them came out wrong! I am not sure if that particular waitress just didn't give a shit that night but I've never experienced anything like this anywhere. I might give it another shot since my previous take-out experiences had been pleasant.

Food was disgusting. Ordered the bbq chicken entree combo that comes with salad, rice, miso soup and dessert. The chicken tasted like the cooked it, left it in the fridge for a week, and reheated it when it was ordered. Tasted like it went bad.. pretty gross. Food was not "wonderful" at all.. also got the fried spicy tuna roll... it was fried for waaaay too long that all the oil soaked into the rice.. so when I ate it.. I can feel all the grease come out like if you were squeezing a sponge. I know it's fried, but good fried food is not supposed to do that. Ordered also the "wonderful" sashimi combo... fish was not fresh.. and a really bad grade... tasted like the costco salmon you buy to baked.. but they served it raw... total bleh. I would give negative stars if I could. This place is a total fail. And one more fail.. the waitress was pouring boiling hot tea for my table and every cup she gave to us she placed it on the table by going over my 5 month old baby.

This restaurant is NOT the place to go if you are looking for Japanese food. However, if you are looking for a CHINESE- Japanese restaurant for you, this is probably the place for you. The sauce in the "teriyaki" chicken tastes like soysauce without any teriyaki flavor. The soba noodles did not taste like soba noodles. They do not have a large selection of sushi. The sashimi had very little fish flavor. The lunch specials were on the expensive side; usually, the lunch specials are less than $10.00 but not at this place.

I love this place cos its simply near to home, very affordable and they give you something free if its your birthday that month. They give you free dragon roll which is like $15. So hey, its worth it. If you go there, ask for Javier, this waiter is good, a mexican that can speak mandarin? I bet you never seen one before.LOL. Anyway, go for the bbq, order the pan fried seafood udon, some rolls are good, and most important of all, if its your birthday that day, ask for freebies, you gotta show your Id though. :D

I really like it here. Everything they give you for the shabu shabu is fresh and light. They don't mix the end broth with rice or noodles, but they have kobe beef for $14! A HUGE platter. So tasty.

ok, I've driven by this place so many times, I had to finally stop there just to try it. I should have kept on driving and went somewhere else. They have sushi, and then have Shabu Shabu. The neon signs says the cheapest and cleanest or whatever it said. Big F*ng LIE. The sauce sucked, the meat was good but that's all I get from this order? I had to pay for vegetables, rice, and other items that is not the meat. What a rip off. I rather go to Mr. Shabu Shabu up the street on San Gabriel Blvd and Las Tunas. The best place is Shabu Shabu Restaurant in Little Tokyo but no need to fill out a review for that. It's like Geometry, it's a given. The only cool thing about this place is the most intrigueing thing. One of the waiters here is Mexican but he speaks broken English, fluent Spanish, and fluent Mandarin. I was so impressed and made sure he keeps the tip. That's it, that's all I have to say about this place.

This is not a fusion restaurant of Japanese and Taiwanese cuisine, but rather a place that serves Taiwanese lunch food, Taiwanese upper scale night market food, Taiwanese styled chili hotpot, Taiwanese styled Shabu Shabu, and Taiwanese styled Japanese food. Kind of like taking three restaurants, a couple night market stalls and a bento place, then squeezing them into a single location. I love this place! The flavors are very Taiwanese (not sure about beef or pork, as i don't eat them) and I have every intention of becoming a regular here and try most of their dishes, excluding sashimi and sushi. Their sashimi is medium grade, but taste like most sushi place in Taiwan. It is a little hard to explain, you have to taste it. The fish is fresh, at the right consistency, well prepped and cut, but just have a somewhat flat or subdued flavor. They plate it with ice, lots of daikon strip and Taiwanese styled wasabi. I may have gotten spoiled with sashimi and sushi from good Japanese restaurant, seafood markets and the ocean. So, won't suggest coming for dinner sashimi/sushi or getting any of the premiums. If you think about it, they have an extremely efficient set up. For example, the freshest seafood will start as Japanese cuisine, then as it gets older move on to upper scale night market food, then Taiwanese lunch food or hot pot sets. I would suggest their lunch specials, they are a very good value and gives you a chance to try out Taiwanese styled Japanese cheaply. I like two of their lunch specials especially, the Mix sashimi set (14 dollars for 13-15 slices of medium level sashimi with soup, salad and rice is unbeatable) and the stinky tofu hot pot. The stinky tofu hot pot "stinks", so don't order it unless you like the fried version and can stand spicy and hot dishes. They do put pig intestine in this dish, so can ask to replace or remove. One of their dinner dish, I don't know the English name, but literally is Five flavored squid ( should be fresh cuttlefish, but not as common over here) the sauce is soy sauce paste base with cilantro, ginger, bonito extract and sugar or Mirin drizzled over fresh squid that was lightly cooked in boiling soup stock and then shocked with ice water to keep it from becoming too chewy. It has the perfect balance between sauce, squid flavor and texture. If you order this, make sure to eat it quick, otherwise the squid will "lose" water and make the sauce too thin. A Wonderful place indeed!

I love the name, Wonderful Restaurant. You get three different menus when you sit, and the selection of all the options can get overwhelming. Upon deciding on just getting one of every category, this is what was selected. Ordered: -Wonderful hot pot (beef) -Chirashi bowl (sashimi pieces on rice) -Chicken and pork blood with 3 spices the hot pot was good. They have everything you expect in a small bowl. Definitely meant for one person, though if you order the other selections, you only get either the meat or the vegetables, not both; which I find rather odd. The Chirashi bowl was delicious. I was surprised by the actual freshness and taste of the fish. Nicely done. The chicken was good, the pork blood was outstanding. Definitely wish I had rice to eat with this though, it's harder as a stand alone as the flavors are strong. The servers were great, and the boss really seemed to care, in a feisty stern Chinese mother sort of way.

Ok, to be honest, their food is not bad. It's not great, but not bad. Why the bad rating? Here's why. Tonight my wife and I got a babysitter so we can have our special valentine's dinner. We settled with Wonderful for a nice quiet dinner, and it's closed by so we can be home sooner. When we got there, there were quite alot of people, as expected on Valentine's day. We sat down around 8pm, ordered quickly and that was the end of our "wonderful" experience. We had 1 small dish came within 15mins, then waited another 1/2 hr for another one. Meanwhile, no refill of tea, no taking away the finished dishes. Ok, they are busy, I get that. Then waitress came and told me a dish is out of stock, ok no problem. Another couple came by, who apparently knows the owner. Their food started showing up faster. Another 1/2hr came by, still no food, by this time it's 915. Our next table now is almost finish with their food. The waitress kept saying they had a different sushi chef, that my chef is good, but takes his time. Fine, kept waiting. By 945 we only had 1/2 of what we ordered. BTW the table next to us ordered same oyster and salmon we did, but somehow ours just got lost in the list of TBD for our top chef. We decided to cancel the remaining order and go home for instant noodle (already 10pm). Then the waitress wouldn't let us use a coupon they gave us on a prior visit, claim today it's a holiday. Don't think so lady, it's not a national holiday. (the card had no expiration date, nor does it say anything about not able to use on a "holiday". Then they came back and gave us 2x $5.00 coupon for next visit, but took away our old coupon, and DID NOT deduct from the bill. Anyways, thanks for ruining our valentine's, this so-called once a year "holiday". We left the coupons, paid the bills, left a penny for the service they don't deserve, and walked.

This is one of those restaurants I go to when I'm DESPERATE for sushi and the good places around me aren't open and/or my parents don't want to drive that far to Little Tokyo to eat. It's really nothing amazing. It's also kind of pricey for the amount and the quality of food. It also bugs me because they not only have sushi, but they have hot pot and random Chinese dishes. Yeah. Only if you're desperate. I highly recommend Sorafune in Monterey Park if you want better sushi (and probably Tai Hei, but I haven't been there yet!)

I would put zero stars if u could!! Should have checked yelp first, was about to but since we're new to the area decided to try something new. Food is expensive and nothing special. This place is Japanese and Taiwanese food, we decided to go with the Taiwanese dishes since the sushi was overpriced and we could get much better quality at yoshino down the street. I never write yelp reviews but really felt the need to because what made the experience worse was the HORRIBLE SERVICE. The waitress we had was unattentive, slow, & rude. Told her it was our first time and she didnt even bother explaining anything to us and since it was so many different types of food (including shabu) it was super confusing. asked if what we ordered was enough for two people, her answer: "i don't know.. i dont know how much you guys eat.." (REALLy?!?!?!) Had to Ask for water twice, didnt check up on us through the entire meal and we had to get up out of our booth to find her for the check!! I used to waitress myself so I usually am pretty understanding about things but the service was just bad especially since it wasn't even busy. Never coming back again!!

The 5 stars reviews are so different from my experience. I went here a long time ago, when I was a really little girl. All I remembered from my experience was trying uni sushi and thinking "boo, this sucks"... Oh how things have changed (see "last meal on earth"). I went yesterday for sushi. Things we ordered: "Fresh Uni" It was okay. Not bad but the color was a bit off IMO. Much rather go to Redondo (Quality Seafood Market). "Oyster Shooter" $7 A BIG RIP-OFF. The liquor that was used for the shooter was good but when I drank most of it and looked at the oyster, I saw my oyster was cut in half. I'm paying $7 for half an oyster? Freakin' people trying to rip us off. Shouldn't it be called "half an oyster shooter"? The oyster was not fresh. When oysters, or seafood in general, is not fresh, it makes my mouth itchy. Sashimi Combination/Combo The fish was unfresh. The tuna was leaking pale red juice onto the place. The white fish/albacore (couldn't tell) was also cut very sloppily. Also, for some weird reason, the sashimi plate came with two cut pieces of hard fried fish paste. Set Dinner B I ordered the grilled lamb chop and shrimp tempura combo. It came with 4 pieces of California Roll, salad, and fresh fruit. Or at least, that is what the menu said. What it really came with 2 pieces of California roll, and pickled veggies, and a made from powder mix mango pudding. There was only one grilled lamb chop which came still a bit cold. The tempura was okay. The shrimp was really tiny/skinny in comparison to the massive amount of tempura 'skin'. The shrimp tempura came with potato and eggplant tempura. Another minus: The woman (maybe owner or manager) was too damn nosy. She asked so many questions such as "how old are you? are these your kids? how old are they? how long you've been together?" to my dad and his gf. Good grief, she's so fake. Even my dad said so. The meal came out to be $140 which was TOTALLY unworth it IMO. The best thing was the free green tea ice cream. Save your money and venture to other sushi places. If I could, .5/5 stars.

It was a not so wonderful restaurant. The worst service ever. They offer shabu shabu but you have to ask for the shabu shabu menu. The only sever that is nice and helpful is the male non asian. The asian ladies are rude. The whole time not one server came by to refill our tea or ask us if we needed anything. I will never go back again.

I've been here several times but before this past Saturday, I hadn't been since I became addicted to this site we call yelp. My parents know the owner here. Or is she the manager. I'm not sure. Anyway, that connection got my dad a VIP card, which gives us 10% off our meal. The sushi here is pretty good. Not the best I've had, but it doesn't suck either. We got 3 orders of uni and that was pretty fresh as well. Among other things, we got a dragon roll and rainbow roll. My brother snuck the tail piece of the dragon roll, which had a fat chunk of eel big enough to stretch across 3 pieces of the roll... I wanted it... My mom loves yellowtail collar, so we got that too. I remember last time we came we got a couple of the spicy scallop hand rolls. Those were good. Actually, every time I've been here the food has all been pretty good. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by any of the food.

I went here with my work cause we were having a work lunch there. Didn't get to try much...except just got the Bento box (Tonkatsu) Fried Pork Chop. The bento box included some vegetables w/ bacon (it was quite good!), pork chop, two pieces of tempura (none of which were shrimp), 4 pieces of california roll, and a miso soup. It is quite cheap, the whole bento box was added to $6.25. Unfortunately, only the vegetables w/ bacon was good (really oily though). The fried crunchy pork chop had no taste and had to dip the pork chop into the soy sauce. The tempura was pretty good, but like I said earlier only vegetable (did not include any shrimp tempura). California rolls were decent, nothing too special nor was it bland. The miso soupo was pretty good! They added lots of seaweed and tofu and the soup was not salty like other soups I've tasted. This place is another Chinese owned Japanese restaurant (like many in San Gabriel Valley). I was reading Anthony's comment, there was a Mexican/Hispanic that spoke Mandarin! That is quite impressive, for that I add another star. However, overall 2.5 stars/5 stars. : (

I used to go here a lot, but now that I found a Japanese restaurant that is much cheaper with the same quality food, I stopped coming here. They have one of the cleaner, tastier Japanese food, but the price is pretty high. I usually order the unagi and the tempura. I love the way they make their tempura so the fried bits are very flaky! Also, their miso soup is good, but it's very unusual for a Japanese restaurant to have bad miso soup. When I used to come here, the guy who makes the sushi was so nice to us! Whenever my family and I sat at the sushi bar, he would sometimes slip some extra sushi for us. Very friendly man so we always left him an extra tip. I haven't been here for years, but maybe one day I'll come visit the nice sushi man again!

Wonderful is probably one of the safer bets when it comes to Japanese food in the SGV. You can always be sure you're going to get your money's worth. They have some good prices on dinner and lunch specials and the food is good. I'm actually a regular here and the service is usually great, although sometimes you may catch them on a bad busy day. When i go to japanese restaurants though, I usually go for the sushi. Wonderful's sushi isn't the greatest in the world, but it's still very good nonetheless.

Great portion for their lunch special combo! Everything comes in separate dishes and they're at not chinsy with the servings, which I love because I'm chubs :) I've only gone for their lunch special...yeah it's a bit more expensive than those other typical Japanese lunch combos but you get your moneys worth...especially if you're VIP (well my dad is) because you get 10% discount. I normally order the beef teriyaki (which is actually korean short ribs), tempura and sashimi. And on top of your ordered items, you get california rolls, soup and other goodies...no wonder I love this place! Oh and the last I went here...they gave ice cream for dessert! I picked the green tea of course...and needless to say...I was chubbling along as I exited the restuarant. Mmm...mmm...gooda! PS don't order the lamb chops...it really is just one chop! not worth it.

The first time I dined @ Wonderful it was @ lunch time & we sat at a table. It was okay, but we decided to give it a try for dinner since it is local (our other fav is Gin Sushi). It's best if you sit @ the sushi bar. We were delighted to have a complimentary starter salad of cucumber, octopus (which I was not a fan of until then) & a vinegar, sugar & sesame dressing, fresh & delish. James the sushi chef was gracious enough to give us extra. We usually get the chirashi box also very fresh & the sticky rice is super addictive. We go there once a week now & everyone is super nice. James wasn't there last time so we met Frank another chef & Jenny one of the servers. Since we go so often they have given us coupons for $5.00 off any $20.00 worth of food ordred per person which is a great little incentive. Give it a try!!

I really like this place! The environment is quite pleasant. Orders come with a salad, bowl of rice, miso soup, and green tea. I usually always get the combo lunch, I really can't bring myself to order anything else. Beef, tempura, chicken, salmon its all good. The combo lunch also comes with some sides like sushi, they use to give potato salad, don't know what happened to that. Though it has varied from what they give you one day and giving you something else more or less the next. I love their rice, its steamed to perfection. PERFECTION I TELL YOU! There was only once I didn't get the combo, when I got the plate of sashimi, can't remember what I thought about it, but I don't remember anything bad about it, so it had to have been good.

The only time to go here is if you have a birthday otherwise the food is overpriced. Avoid the shabu shabu because they charge you for the vegetables ($12.95) PLUS the meat (if you're getting beef $14.95). It's a HUGE rip-off. This is the only shabu shabu place I've ever been to that charges additional for the standard vegetables. On top of that, it's not made clear on the menu so until you get the bill, you're like what!? $28 for shabu shabu! It's not even close to being worth it.

I come here every month (maybe a little more) with some friends. With every visit, the sushi tastes a little different, but its not too bad. It will not be the best you've ever had though. Have gotten: -Chirashi Bowl ($14) raw fishstuff that comes in a square box packed with sweet sushi rice on the bottom; the rice tastes amazing & I actually try to eat every grain of it. The selection on top differs from which sushi chef makes your bowl. I usually get a mix that includes salmon, tamago, octopus slice, salmon eggs, fishes that I forget the name of & tuna. [There's actually a picture of a Chirashi Bowl by DW in the Yelp picture section, but from my memories, that bowl is a little skimpy from I usually get.] They haven't put any Uni in my bowl lately & I miss it, they had on/off days with their freshness. -Wonderful Sushi Mix (different prices for lunch/dinner) I picked the Sushi Mix because I wasn't too hungry & I just wanted to sample their selection of fish, but I wasn't too fond with what I got. From what I remember, their tuna was a funny shade of red & the octopus was made of rubber. Definitely not one of my favorites. -Lunch/Dinner Combo A or Combo B (different prices for lunch/dinner) Comes with miso soup, a sweet salad (with raisins!), regular rice (not sushi rice), & a dessert (mango pudding). If you pick Combo A, you get to pick one item off of a short list & if you pick Combo B, you get to pick two items off a different less-short list. Items on the list include: chicken, beef, tempura, salmon (combo B only), & lamb (combo B only). [NOTE: there are other things on this list, I just don't have photographic memory or my camera to photographically memorize this for me.] & because you get to choose, don't pick the lamb! You get one "chop" & it was tough & not fulfilling. It really was disappointing! Their salmon was small in amount, but it was cooked really well. [makes me wonder if I could have ordered two of the salmon.] Their veggie tempura was good, but they don't give you much [5-6 pieces]. Their chicken is never dry & it usually fills you up (unless you're a beast like me...) [I've never ordered the beef, but my friends say its not bad.] Parking- You have to squeeze between the restaurant & the building next to it to get to a lot in the back. There's usually parking there, but beware, its kinda terrifying when it gets dark out. Service- The Hispanic waiter that speaks more Chinese than me is amazing. & he's nice too. One of the waitresses there can recognize me & my friends because we come here too often.. & she gives us $5 off $20 coupons every time we dine there. (: 3.5/5

I really love this restaurant, but I think one reason is because my dad works there as a chef lol. I was kind of sad at first to see that it only has three stars because I really thought this restaurant has great food. Everything is fresh and comes in the morning. Though the owner is Taiwanese, the sushi is still pretty authentic. Their Taiwanese dishes are delicious as well. And their ice cream is the best I've ever had. A bit expensive for a casual dinner but I think it's really worth it.

I've been a regular customer at wonderful restaurant, the sushi and sashimi is good for the san gabriel area. Recently they've added lots of new things on their menu and its a great mix of Japanese and Taiwanese cuisine.
